As an effort to help our community, the members of Friends in Harmony Club have selected  Haven Hills as our charity for the period of July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002.  From time to time Friends in Harmony will hold raffles and donate 50% of the money received on specified items. Haven Hills rebuilds lives by providing services to victims of domestic violence.  It is a multi-program agency offering a full range of services to help women and children break away from the cycle of violence.  Here are some of their many services:

      *They have a 24 hour, 7 day a week crisis line;

      *They have a 30 day crisis shelter for families;

      *They have an 18 month transitional living and employment program;

      *They offer group and individual counseling by trained staff;

      *They have a teen program to get the message out about domestic violence;

      *They have an emergency response team in conjunction with the police, medical facilities, emotional response, educational programs and legal services;

      *They work with Cal WORKS to help clients obtain employment.

What could be more rewarding than helping a family get out of a violent situation and seeing them get "back on their feet" without having to go back to their previous abusive situation? Like all non-profit organizations, they are always in need of money.  If you can spare some, please give to Haven Hills where the money is spent wisely to help families of domestic violence.  Don't forget, your contribution is tax deductible.
